To keep a wig on top, it is important to wash it regularly. Discover all our advice.

Wash your natural wig

Even if it is made of real human hair, your natural wig will require specific maintenance! To wash it, dilute a dab of special wig shampoo in a basin of lukewarm water. Immerse your wig in it, run your fingers through it without rubbing and leave it on for about ten minutes. Rinse thoroughly then repeat the operation with a conditioner (also special wig). Be careful, it is essential that no trace of product remains in your wig or it may become greasy.
Once your wig is clean, dab it gently with a terry towel and shake it to restore volume. Let it air dry, by placing it on a wig holder (or on your shower head if necessary): this will allow it to regain its shape. In terms of storage, then put it in the cupboard (on a wig hanger) to prevent it from collecting dust.
Tip: Wash your wig every two weeks or so.

Wash your synthetic wig

A synthetic wig is washed like a natural wig but using cold water instead of lukewarm water. This will have the advantage of retaining its shape after being washed, but be careful: never use a source of heating devices (hair dryer, hair straightener) on it at the risk of damaging it. To dry your synthetic wig, leave it on a wig holder overnight. Then just brush it off when you wake up and it is ready to be used!
Tip: Use a spiked brush to style your wig. This is best suited to preserve the synthetic material.
